Official Guidelines
The record for the most plastic bottles collected in one or eight hours is based on the weight of the plastic bottles collected within the designated time period.
  1. Only containers made of plastic collected individually and by hand will be accepted (any plastic container that once contained a liquid beverage- i.e. water, soda, 2-liter, juice, Gatorade). We will NOT be collecting milk jugs or other plastic bottles made from the same type of plastic.
  2. All plastic bottles must be used and empty so that a genuine recycling process is taking place.
  3. The plastic bottles should be collected within a specified area or location.
  4. There is no limit to the number of people involved in the collecting process.
  5. Once all plastic bottles have been collected they must be taken to a scale that has been previously certified and assessed as being adequate for the standards of the record.
  6. Two independent witnesses must be present to verify the guidelines were followed and the final total weight of the plastic bottles collected.
